Image format converter

Turn WebP into JPG, PNG into WebP, a screenshot into a JPG for a form. Pick one image or many, choose the format, and download.

Convert to

90

90 keeps photos looking the same as the original. Lower means smaller files.

JPG cannot be see-through, so transparent areas are filled with this colour.
Size

Converting does not have to change the size. To make files as small as possible for a form, the image shrinker does it best.

Everything happens on your device. Your images are not uploaded or saved anywhere.

Your converted images

Need a smaller file, not a new format?

Use the image shrinker: it resizes and compresses photos for forms and messages. Background to remove? Try the background remover.

    Good to know

    JPG for photos and forms

Almost every form, phone and printer accepts it. It has no see-through parts and loses a little detail each time it is saved.

    PNG for screenshots and logos

Keeps every pixel and see-through parts. Turning a JPG into PNG does not bring back lost detail: it just makes the file bigger.

    WebP for the web

Smaller than JPG and PNG for the same look, and can be see-through. Some older apps and official forms do not accept it, which is when converting to JPG helps.

    iPhone HEIC photos

Safari on iPhone and Mac can open HEIC, so convert there. Other browsers cannot read HEIC on their own. On iPhone, Settings › Camera › Formats › Most Compatible saves new photos as JPG, and photos picked in a web form are often handed over as JPG already.

Sources: WHATWG HTML Living Standard, the canvas element and toBlob() (each image is drawn on a canvas and saved as a new file, without the hidden photo details such as location); Google for Developers, "An image format for the Web" (WebP lossless images are 26% smaller than PNGs, and lossy WebP images 25 to 34% smaller than comparable JPEGs); Can I use, "HEIF/HEIC image format" (supported in Safari 17 and later on Mac and iPhone; not in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Samsung Internet as of October 2026). We chose not to include an add-on HEIC decoder: the open ones we found depend on libheif, whose licence (LGPL) is not the permissive kind this site uses. Results depend on your browser: if it cannot make WebP, you get PNG and the page says so.
