End-of-service gratuity and final settlement
For private sector employees in the UAE. Enter your basic salary and how long you worked, and see what the Labour Law gives you. Then add your other dues below for the full final settlement.
Final settlement: your other dues
Your gratuity from above is included. Add what else you are owed and what you owe. Leave a box empty if it does not apply.
How it is worked out
You need at least one year of continuous service. Less than a year means no gratuity.
21 days of basic wage for each of the first 5 years, and 30 days for each year after that. Part of a year is paid in proportion.
The total can never be more than 2 years' wage (24 months of basic salary).
Your employer must pay your dues within 14 days of the contract ending. Money you owe the employer can be deducted.
When you leave, every unused annual leave day is paid in cash at your basic wage, however many days there are.
Your notice period is in your contract, between 30 and 90 days. If one side skips it, that side owes the other the full wage for the notice days not given.
The employer pays your return to where you were recruited from, unless you join another employer or you caused the contract to end.
- Government jobs (federal or local), the armed forces and the police
- UAE nationals: their end-of-service is under the pensions and social security law
- Free zones with their own employment law, such as DIFC and ADGM
- Domestic workers, who have a separate law
- The optional end-of-service savings scheme, if your employer has joined it
- Part-time work, which is scaled by your contract hours
