Basic salary only, as on your contract: no housing, transport or other allowances.
Over your whole working life in the UAE, the scheme pays for 12 months at most.
Runs on your phone. Nothing you type is uploaded or saved.
Categories and premiums
Premiums are the maximums set by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE). The policy is subject to 5% VAT. You can pay monthly, every 3 months, every 6 months or once a year.
The rules in short
Employees in the private sector and the federal government, Emirati or not. Exempt: investors who own their business, domestic workers, temporary contract workers, under-18s, and retirees on a pension who took a new job. Free zones and local governments: check with the authority.
Not subscribing: AED 400. Not paying premiums: u.ae lists AED 400, while a MOHRE announcement reported in December 2023 said AED 200, so check with the authority. Unpaid fines can be taken from your salary or end-of-service benefits, and you can be refused a new work permit.
At least 12 months of subscription without a break and all premiums paid. You lost the job for a reason other than resigning or disciplinary dismissal. You claim within 30 days of the job ending (or of a labour dispute being settled), and you are in the UAE.
60% of your average basic salary over the last 6 months, up to AED 10,000 a month (category 1) or AED 20,000 (category 2), for up to 3 months per claim. Payment is due within 2 weeks of the claim. It stops if you start a new job or leave the country.
