End-of-service gratuity and final settlement

For private sector employees in the UAE. Enter your basic salary and how long you worked, and see what the Labour Law gives you. Then add your other dues below for the full final settlement.

How long did you work?

Runs on your phone. Nothing is uploaded. Your entries are kept only on this device so you can come back to them.

Final settlement: your other dues

Your gratuity from above is included. Add what else you are owed and what you owe. Leave a box empty if it does not apply.

Leave is paid at the basic wage. Salary days are paid at the full wage.
Ticket: the value of the flight home, if your contract or the law gives it to you. Other dues: for example unpaid overtime, commission or bonuses you are owed.

How it is worked out

At least 1 year

You need at least one year of continuous service. Less than a year means no gratuity.

21, then 30 days

21 days of basic wage for each of the first 5 years, and 30 days for each year after that. Part of a year is paid in proportion.

Capped at 2 years

The total can never be more than 2 years' wage (24 months of basic salary).

Paid within 14 days

Your employer must pay your dues within 14 days of the contract ending. Money you owe the employer can be deducted.

Unused leave is paid

When you leave, every unused annual leave day is paid in cash at your basic wage, however many days there are.

Notice: 30 to 90 days

Your notice period is in your contract, between 30 and 90 days. If one side skips it, that side owes the other the full wage for the notice days not given.

Ticket home

The employer pays your return to where you were recruited from, unless you join another employer or you caused the contract to end.

This calculator does not cover:
  • Government jobs (federal or local), the armed forces and the police
  • UAE nationals: their end-of-service is under the pensions and social security law
  • Free zones with their own employment law, such as DIFC and ADGM
  • Domestic workers, who have a separate law
  • The optional end-of-service savings scheme, if your employer has joined it
  • Part-time work, which is scaled by your contract hours

The law does not fix the daily-rate divisor; the ÷30 default follows common practice. Cabinet Resolution No. 1 of 2022 (Executive Regulation), Article 19(2): unused leave on leaving is paid on the basic salary. Covers the private sector under federal law only; free zones such as DIFC and ADGM have their own rules, and government jobs differ. Last checked: 27 Oct 2026.
