Fog on my morning drive?
Hour-by-hour visibility for tonight and tomorrow morning, and a simple fog risk for your drive between 5 and 9 am.
Nothing you pick is saved. To show the forecast, the page asks Open-Meteo, a free public weather service, for the forecast at the chosen city's coordinates (or yours, if you choose "My location").
Driving in fog: what UAE police advise
Check warnings from the National Center of Meteorology and the police. If visibility is very poor, delay the trip. Clean the windscreen, mirrors and lights, and use the demister or AC to keep the glass clear.
Slow down so you can stop within the distance you can see, and obey the reduced speed limits on the electronic signs. Use low beams and fog lights, not high beams: they bounce back off the fog. Leave a much bigger gap, stay in your lane and don't overtake.
Hazard lights are for when you have stopped. On the move they confuse the drivers behind you. Put the phone away and avoid cruise control.
Pull fully off the road into a safe parking area, never in a traffic lane. Then switch on the hazard lights, stay in the car with your seatbelt on, and wait until it clears.
On clear, calm nights the ground cools. When the air cools down to its dew point (the gap between temperature and dew point shrinks to about 1–2°C) and humidity is near 100%, water droplets form in the air. Fog is when this cuts visibility below 1 km. In the UAE it is most common from autumn to spring, in the hours around dawn, and often clears by mid-morning.
How the risk is worked out
The model forecasts visibility under 1,000 m: that is fog.
Visibility under 2,000 m, or the air is almost saturated: temperature within 1.5°C of the dew point, humidity 90% or more, and wind under 15 km/h. Fog can form quickly in these conditions.
None of the above. Patchy fog can still form in low ground, near the coast or around farms and parks, so stay alert.

Visibility from a global model is a rough estimate and fog is very local, so treat this as a guide only. Fog definition (visibility under 1 km): World Meteorological Organization, as summarised in the UNDRR/ISC Hazard Information Profile for fog (MH0202). Driving advice: Abu Dhabi Police and the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) fog guidance and 80 km/h variable speed limits, as reported by Gulf News (18 October 2026); UAE Ministry of Interior tips for driving in fog, as reported by Khaleej Times (September 2021). The medium-risk rule is Jarreb!'s own simple rule. Always follow official NCM fog warnings and the speed limits on the electronic road signs.
