Days between dates

Count the days, working days, weeks and months between two dates, or count down to a date that matters to you.

Weekend days

UAE federal government offices have had a Saturday and Sunday weekend since 1 January 2022. Private companies choose their own, so tap the days that are off for you.

How it is counted

The end date

From Monday to Friday is 4 days if you count the gaps between dates, or 5 if you count both days. Contracts and notice periods often count both: check which one your document uses.

Working days

Working days are every day in the range except your weekend days, and, if you choose, UAE public holidays that fall on a working day. The start date always counts.

Holidays follow the moon

Eid and other Islamic holidays are confirmed after the crescent is sighted. Dates marked ≈ are estimates and can move by a day or two.

Months are not all equal

Months are counted as whole calendar months, then the days left over. 31 January to 28 February is one month.

Sources: the UAE federal government moved to a 4.5-day working week from 1 January 2022, with Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday off, as announced in December 2021 and reported by the national press; private sector employers set their own working week under Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 (UAE Labour Law). Public holidays use the same dates as Jarreb!'s UAE Holiday Planner: UAE Cabinet Decision No. 27 of 2024 on official holidays, as summarised on the UAE Government portal u.ae; the 2026 holiday announcements by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation and the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (private sector dates). 2027 and later Hijri holidays are estimates from the Umm al-Qura calendar and are not yet announced. This is a planning aid, not legal advice: check your contract and your employer's policy.
