What will my car be worth?

A car loses value every month. Type its price, age and how much you drive, and see a rough estimate of its value today and in 1, 3 and 5 years.

Excellent: full service history, no accidents. Fair: dents, worn tyres, gaps in service. Poor: accident damage or warning lights.

How cars lose value

The first year hits hardest

Guides for the UAE put the first-year drop at about 15% to 20%, then about 10% to 15% a year, slowing after year 4. After 5 years many cars are worth 40% to 50% of their new price.

Kilometres count

UAE cars are driven more than in most places. This tool treats 20,000 km a year as normal: more lowers the value, fewer helps a little. A full service record softens the hit.

Type and spec matter

Popular family cars and large SUVs often hold value well here. Luxury cars and electric cars usually fall faster at first. GCC-spec cars, built for the heat, normally sell for more than imports.

A real cost

Depreciation is often the biggest cost of owning a newer car, yet you never see a bill for it. You only feel it when you sell or trade in.

A rough estimate only. Real resale values depend on the exact model, GCC spec, colour, service history, accidents, and supply and demand on the day you sell. Check recent listings for the same model before you buy or sell. Not financial advice.

The yearly rates per type, the 20,000 km a year norm and the mileage and condition adjustments (−1.5% per 10,000 km above normal, up to −25%; +1% per 10,000 km below, up to +8%; condition +5% / 0 / −8% / −18%) are this tool's own assumptions built from those ranges, since published guides give no fixed figures.
